March quickly becomes my favorite month of the year. From celebrating Dr. Seuss, to leprechaun shenanigans and March Madness, Kindergarten is action-packed. However, the March Madness Tournament - book edition rises to the top of the list! While this is not my original idea, I've been doing a March Madness Tournament of Books for 6 years! Each year, I pay careful attention to favorite picture book read-alouds as the year goes along. When March arrives, I pick the top 16 to enter the Tournament of books! This year, the line up is extra spectacular. Each vote so far has been a nail-biter! The winning book has been chosen by just a few votes.
The books that make the Sweet 16 are some of the ones that the fans (my kinders) rave about during the school year. Some are favorites because of the lovable characters. Some are favorites because the author's purpose was to make us laugh. Some are favorites because they made us think a little harder and be a little more kind. No matter the purpose for the book, we are so excited to read them over and over.
Stay tuned to the blog to find out what's happening in Kindergarten this week!
We can't wait to see which book wins the 2018 book of the year! Do you have a favorite? Mo Willems holds a special place in my heart.....we shall see what the fans (my kinders) choose!
